Using animals for entertainment is most certainly a form of exploitation. You are using them for your enjoyment just like with clothing, products or food. You pay to have these live animals put in cages just so you can watch them suffer, these animals are not safer than what they would be in the wild. Sure there is pouchers that are threats but a zoo or aquarium is not the place to put these animals if you want them to be safe and in the clostest thing to their natural environment; sanctuaries are.

Aquariums

I myself have been to a few Aquariums before going vegan as I'm sure many of you have been. There is something so fascinating about being around these creatures.Black fish is an amazing documentary showing the outcome of capturing these beautiful wild animals and exploiting them for human entertainment and money. Like black fish said Orcas live to the same or longer age as humans but sea world and other marine places have told us they only live till 20-25. This is a clear indication these animals are not happy and healthy, and there is many more reasons. What type of life is a life of confinement? These animals are in tiny tiny tanks compared to the size of the ocean, how would you like it if you were stuck in a bath tub for most of your life? This is why vegans do not support Aquariums, we do not support the exploitation of animals for any reason.

Something many people don't realize is that by supporting marine species confinement you are supporting the whale/dolphin slaughter. In Taiji, Japan Annually approximately 23,000 dolphins are killed. These dolphins are driven into a bay by fishermen using long poles creating noise in the water to scare them. When the Dolphins reach the bay the first people there are marine parks who are wanting to buy dolphins for their Aquariums and shows etc. the fishermen make a lot more money by selling these dolphins then for their meat but the fishermen like to kill the dolphins. THE COVE is a great documentary exposing the slaughter of dolphins.

Zoos

As a kid we don't understand that zoos exploit animals. Most kids have never seen these animals in the wild so they don't realize they are not where they are suppose to be. As you get older you begin to learn about these animals and where they are suppose to be located. Still most of us still go to zoos (support zoos) because we want to see these animals close up. We don't double think how the animal feels because we don't speak monkey/ dolphin/ elephant etc. so they cannot tell us if they are happy/healthy. Nobody cares until they can physically tell they are not happy/healthy> injuries, sickness, etc. much like humans with mental illness today. The fact of the matter is to vegans is that an animal was taken away from its natural habitat, possibly it's family and has lost its freedom. Imagine if instead of a tiger it was a human, put yourself in the animals situation. Vegans say no to zoos because of this, it is exploitation. Humans are simply making money off of keeping these animals captive. There is no benefit to the animals, most die before the time they would in the wild. Remember Harambe? The male silver back gorilla that was killed because a little boy ended up in his enclosure? People argued and argued about it being the parents fault for not watching their child, how they had to shoot Harambe because he was a danger to the child. But not many people though of the logical thought that this wouldn't happen if we didn't put wild animals in cages.
